Undefeated

My youngest son's sophomore football team ended their season undefeated with another victory over Leyden 55 to 26. Their running back scored six touchdowns. My son got to play center most of the fourth quarter. The rain held off for his whole game. It poured for the whole varsity game. We worked concessions under the tents so we didn't get too wet. The varsity won 30 to 14 and ended their season conference champs.

Shutout

My youngest son's football team got their first shutout 35 to 0 against Morton at Morton West in Berwyn. It was a cold night and was drizzling when we got to the stadium. He got to play the whole last quarter at center on offense. We left right after his game and went to my other son's pasta party for cross country.

Undefeated

My youngest son's football won another game against Addison Trail 55 to 18. It didn't start off too good and we were actually behind a couple of times. The offensive had a great game and he got to play the last set of downs. It was a beautiful fall night and Grandma and Papa came to watch.

Another Victory

My youngest son's football team won again 42 to 6 versus Hinsdale South. He got to play about eight minutes on the offensive line and did a great job. The team played another great game and they are still undefeated. It was a clear cool night. I should have dressed a little warmer. Once the sun went down the temperature really dropped. We didn't stay for the varsity game. They won also 42 to 0.

Fourth Victory

My youngest son's team won their fourth game in a row 35 to 20 against my old high school Willowbrook. The played a great first half and were ahead 20 to 6. Willowbrook gave us scare in the third quarter with two touchdowns. We scored a long touchdown and that was the game. It was a beautiful night for homecoming. We worked concessions for the varsity game and watched the Varsity beat Willowbrook 40 to 6.

Third Game

My youngest son's football team won their third game in a row 39 to 7 against Downers Grove North at Downers Grove North. We got there right at the beginning and watched the whole game under umbrellas. It rained the whole game. It was 32 to 7 at halftime. It would have been a bigger win but the referees seemed to call more penalties on our team. He got to play the last set of downs again on offense. We left right after the game because of the lousy weather.

First Home Game

I left work twenty minutes earlier and we got to the field just as the game started. The parking lot was still not finished but we were able to park on the gravel not far from the entrance. We grabbed seats about five rows up at the forty yard line. My youngest son's sophomore football team won their second game against York 34 to 7.It was a cool summer night. Their offense did it again. He got to play offensive line for the last set of plays. We left after the first quarter of the varsity game. The varsity didn't do as well and lost their second game.

First Game

My youngest son's sophomore football team played their first game of the season away at Bolingbrook High School. It was a beautiful sunny night and there were a lot of Downers Grove South fans at the game. We won 35 to 7. He got to play the last set of downs on the offensive line. A great start to the season. We stayed and watched the first half of the varsity game.

Scrimmage

My youngest son's sophomore team had their beginning of the season scrimmage in the stadium. The weather cooperated and they played offense against defense for about a hour. He played at center, guard and tackle on offense and did a great job keeping his guys away from the ball. We watched a little of the varsity's scrimmage. It's amazing the transformation of the players from one year to the next. The players were treated to hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and a drink by the boosters. It's gonna be a great season.

Bears Family Night

We went to the Bears Family Night at Soldier Field. It was hot when we arrived at a little after 4:00 p.m. but it ended up being a beautiful night. We parked in the south lot and you would think it was game day with all the tailgating. We walked around outside for a while until the gates opened at 5:00 p.m. We watched some of the youth leagues play until the Bears came out at 7:00 p.m. The kids were actually more interesting then the Bears. The boys each had a personal pizza. When the players came out onto the field they announced each player and coach and then when they were practicing what they were doing on the field. We had decent seats in the south end zone. We didn't stay for the fireworks to beat the crowds and traffic. We were home before 10:00 p.m.

Orton took the bulk of the first-team reps and had one of his best practices of camp. He showed patience waiting for Devin Hester on a crossing route in 7-on-7 and hit several mid-range throws. Grossman connected with tight end Fontel Mines using a small window over the middle and was steady. Four In A Row

My youngest son's freshman football team won their fourth conference game in a row against Addison Trail 38 to 6 at Addison Trail. He played the whole game at offensive tackle. One of the players on his team scored 4 touchdowns. It was another beautiful sunny warm morning. Grandma and Papa came to watch.

Homecoming Victory

My youngest son's freshman football team won their homecoming game against Hinsdale South 30 to 14. One of their running backs broke his collarbone. The referees were pretty bad. Their offense has really been playing well and scoring points. He played the whole game at offensive tackle. It was another beautiful morning for football. Both boys went to the homecoming dance at school and then hung out with their friends.

Another Victory

My youngest son's freshman football team won their second conference game 12 to 6 against Proviso East at home. He played the whole game at offensive tackle. The team was helped by penalties against Proviso East. It was a beautiful morning.
