Soundstage

On Tuesday we found out we won two passes from WDRV "The Drive" radio station to the taping of REO Speedwagon's Sound Stage show. Wednesday afternoon we left home about 4:30 pm and arrived at the studio about 5:50 pm. We stopped at a Subway for some sandwiches before we got there. They had us wait outside until 6:30 pm and then let us into the studios to be seated. It's a big room with lots of equipment. They said they use 11 cameras when taping. We sat about ten feet from the stage. Steve Downes from WDRV introduced the band and gave us instructions. Because the audience was so small we had to make a lot of noise and we stood the whole concert. It was an incredible experience. Very intimate like your own private concert. The sound was excellent and it was fun watching the audience and the band play to the cameras. They played all the favorites and Kevin Cronin even did a solo at the end. They finished just after 10:00 pm, a little over two hours. On the way out the security guard gave us an all-access pass, a nice souvenir. Outside they gave away free vitamin water after the show. We left the WTTW Studios at about 10:15 pm and made it home in great time about 50 minutes. It was a very wonderful and memorable evening. They said the show will be broadcast in January or February after all the editing.
